Here’s how:

It’s important to see how the song is played, not just hearing it.

It’s a bit more of a traditional approach but nothing is better to help you develop great rhythm.

Download Audacity, a free sound editing program. http://audacity.sourceforge.net/. This program allows you to import virtually almost every type of audio file from .mp3 to .wav. What’s really cool about this is you can take a song of your choice and be able to change the tempo of the song, even without changing the pitch. No more Alvin and the Chipmunks or Darth Vader sounding music files! You can even change the key of the original song recording if it’s in a key that is more difficult to play.

Guitar Camp 2012!!

Hello everyone! I’m excited to let you all know about a great summer event coming up very soon. If you’re one of those people who get bored during the summer, we have just the thing for you!

Brian Newman, a good friend of mine, and fellow guitar instructor, will be partnering with me to bring you a week long event. We will be giving you the opportunity to learn along side other guitarists of all skill levels, many different styles and techniques of playing guitar, and having a blast while doing it. Not only will you learn about the guitar and how to play it, but you’ll also get a chance to learn how to play and interact with others.

Brian and I hope that you or someone you know would join us. We’re getting more and more stoked as this event gets closer!

More details below. To register click on the flyer!

Are you frustrated because you have a favorite riff or lick that you would love to learn but it just seems way too fast? No problem! It doesn’t matter how fast or difficult the song is, you can play it! But it takes dedicated practice time to get there. Here’s a couple of tips to help you out.

The best way to learn your favorite song is to start slow and work your way up to playing full speed. Here’s how:

Find the tabs or sheet music to the song you want to learn. It’s important to see how the song is played, not just hearing it.

Use a metronome to help you keep time.

If you’re currently struggling with learning your favorite songs because it’s too fast, try these tips! Also, please feel free to comment on this to tell everyone how these tips have helped you. If you need additional help, you can also schedule some private lessons with me either via Skype or in person.

Have fun!

That’s the Sound-Off for now. Keep rocking out!
